Toyota’s long anticipated all-new Land Cruiser 300 is now finally official
Toyota’s much anticipated Land Cruiser 300 has finally made its global debut in a YouTube-hosted worldwide premiere out of Dubai. As the successor to the legendary 200-series, the all-new flagship Cruiser 300 ushers in a new design direction along with an all-new range of petrol and diesel powertrains.
BIG NEWS UNDER THE BONNET
Featuring a distinctive new rectangular design emphasised by its prominent face to reinforcing its Master of Africa status, 300’s biggest news however nestles under than long, flat new bonnet. Cruiser 300 introduces two new and vitally significant engine options — a 305 kW 650Nm 3.5-litre biturbo Petrol V6 nicked from the velvety smooth, strong and linear powerful Lexus LS500.
And perhaps even more significantly, an all-new 227 kW and stump-pulling 700Nm d 3.3-litre turbodiesel V6 brings a 32 kW power increase and 50 Nm tractive effort hike over the outgoing 4.5-litre turbodiesel. Will those engines trickle down to the likes of Hilux? Time will tell! But both these latest technology engines bring excellent performance, NVH-levels and exemplary refinement and coupled to a 10-speed automatic transmission and the obligatory low-range 4×4
Based on the first body-on-frame version of Toyota’s New Global Architecture TNGA platform featuring pioneering welding techniques and reconfigured drivetrain placement, the now significantly lighter Land Cruiser 300 offers increased torsional rigidity with tits set up focussed not only on improving off-road capability, but on-road performance and driving comfort too.
