This 128ti hot hatch will soon plug the yawning gap in BMW’s 1-Series range between the 120i and the M135i. Munich is slapping the finishing touches to the all-new Golf GTI and Mercedes A 250-rival. It’s a 200kW 550Nm 2-litre turbo petrol
128 ti gets a LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL
The newcomer will top the One’s front-wheel drive range and pack a limited-slip differential and exude a significantly sporty nature. BMW had come under fire on the existing 1-Series’ dynamics. The new car is aimed at exorcising those demons and is aimed squarely at the all new Golf 8 GTI.
The Bavarian carmaker is already claiming a GTI-pipping 6.2 second 0-100km/h for the 8-speed automatic. There’s no news yet on emissions and economy data.
