Some say M5 CS will be the fastest BMW yet. We just wait for them to prove it!
So Mercedes-AMG has just set the new Nürburgring ‘limo’ lap record? What comes next?
Well that we can never tell. But when works driver Augusto Farfus admits that the forthcoming, upgraded CS model M5 ‘will be the Fastest BMW ever,’ we will speculate! Especially since the CS has been pounding the Nordscheife non-stop flat-out over the past weeks. Probably with Farfus at the wheel, too.
FROM THE HORSE’S MOUTH
So with the news from the horse’s mouth, we also now look forward to a Bavarian response to that Baden-Württemberg prompt. Rest assured their respective hometown rivals will also both be plotting something along the lines of RS. The BMW response should be soon though. To perhaps coincide with that CS unveil later this year (thank goodness, it’s almost over.)
M5 CS is BMW’s answer to the likes of AMG and Porsche battling over 4-door Nurburgring records,. It’s expected to produce 7KW more than the M5 Competition’s 460, while torque is likely to rise above that car’s 750Nm, although unlikely to exceed 800Nm. And M5 CS is apparently 70kg lighter than the M5 Competition too.
Some say that the M5 CS has already broken the 4 door lap record set by the AMG GT63 S. Others reckon that there are many hints that BMW set out with this goal from the get go. Not least of all the Nordshleife map embroidered on the car’s the headrests. It’s further reported that M5 CS has already lapped the Hockenheimring at 1:minute 53.6,. Just 0.2s shy of the GT63 S’s time of 1:53.4.
So we expect the Nurburgring time to be very close. Now we just wait and see. Any bets on when it will happen?
