FORMULA 1 – Mercedes sprays safety car red for Ferrari’s 100th GP
In a gesture to Ferrari, Mercedes is painting is F1 safety car red for the Scuderia’s 1000th Grand Prix this weekend in Tuscany.
Maranello agreed to the request in advance for Mercedes to paint its AMG GT R, the Formula 1 Safety Car, red instead of silver in the ninth race of the season in honuor of the oldest team in Formula 1.

The Italian team is the only one to have raced in each of the 71 seasons so far. And it’s the most successful too, with 238 victories, 16 constructors ‘and 15 drivers’ world titles.
“This weekend we remember the racing history that brought us some of the greatest moments in Formula 1,” a Benz statement confirmed. “The men and women in Maranello can look back on a proud history at this anniversary and we will pay them our tribute this weekend.”
