Porsche building 1,963 S/Ts to salute 60 years of 911

Porsche is celebrating 60 years of the 911 since 1963 by delivering a limited run of 1,963 of this S/T, the lightest 911 of the 992 generation.
The new 911 ST weighs in at just 1,380 kilograms and packs a wailing 9,000 rpm 386 kW (525 PS) 4-litre boxer six plucked from the 911 GT3 RS. Turning a short-ratio manual gearbox via a lightweight clutch, S/T is also available with an optional ‘60 Years of the 911’ Heritage Design Package.

S/T is 911’s Sixtieth Birthday Present
911’s 60th birthday present is named after the particularly performance-focused 1969 911 ST. Unlike the 911 GT3 RS, this one has been developed with a focus more on the street and journeys on public roads, rather than being more oriented. Like its grandpa, the new 911 S/T takes its spirit from the original 911 S.
The lightest model of the 992 generation combines pure agility and driving dynamics with a powerful naturally aspirated engine with what Porsche describes as a ‘resolutely lightweight construction’ and a running-gear setup optimised for agility and drivability. Nimble and agile handling ensure maximum driving enjoyment, especially on winding country roads.
Reduced engine, wheel and brake rotating masses ensure extreme responsiveness to allow S/T to instantaneously respond to driver input. A new lightweight clutch a single-mass flywheel reduces rotating mass by 10.5 kg to build revs quicker.

Short Ratio 6-Speed, Lightweight Clutch
The short ratio six-speed manual gearbox brings great immediacy to the high-revving engine to propel 911 S/T to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds and on to 300 km/h top speed. All to the exhilarating note of a lightweight sports exhaust system. Exclusive S/T double-wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension has performance tuned dampers and control systems.
‘Every steering movement, every ounce of pressure on the accelerator or brake is implemented immediately and with pinpoint precision,’ Porsche says. That is aided and abetted by stepped 20-inch front and 21-inch rear lightweight centre-locking magnesium wheels. They come in ultra-high-performance 255/35 ZR 20 front and 315/30 ZR 21 rubber
Further weight savings come in the form of a carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic bonnet, roof, front wings and doors and lightweight glass. Powertrain weight savings and magnesium wheels are complemented by a lightweight roll cage, rear axle anti-roll bar and shear panel.

911 S/T Brings an 88 Pound Weight Saving
There’s also a lighter lithium-ion starter battery and the regular 992 rear-axle steering is removed. All in all, 911 S/T shaves over 40 kg off the weight of a manual 911 GT3 Touring
911 S/T aerodynamics do not escape attention with a Gurney flap on the rear spoiler. Stepping inside, CFRP full bucket seats come as standard with four-way-adjustable Sports Seats Plus available at no extra charge. The instrument cluster and Sport Chrono clock of the package are finished in classic Porsche green.
An optional Heritage Design Package draws inspiration from late 1960s and early ‘70s 911 S race cars. Porsche Design also offers buyers 911 S/T the Chronograph 1 – 911 S/T, titanium cased, uncoated and blasted Porsche timepiece.
