Jetour wows the who’s who, makes a major statement

The manner in which Jetour unveiled its new T1 and T2 SUV twins on Cape Town’s Grand Parade Friday evening must have the shivers running even further down the traditional local motor industry’s back. The biggest industry event we’ve attended in at least a quarter century, was the scale of it simply a signal from the future?

Either way, the cars they rolled out are pretty impressive too. The Jetour T-series is said to not just embody a rugged, capable and adventure-ready vehicle, but also a unique lifestyle. Set for sale mid-November, the new Jetour T1 (below) and T2 (above) models bring a distinctive blend of style, performance, and comfort, to embody the brand’s Travel+ philosophy. While also showcasing its commitment to deliver an unique driving experience.

“Since Jetour first entered the South African market last year, there’s been incredible anticipation for the T-Series,” Jetour South Africa Vice President Nic Campbell announced. “So we’re thrilled to launch both the T1 and T2. We believe they will change the way people experience SUVs in South Africa.

T-Series

Rugged, adventure-ready Jetour T2

The more rugged and adventure-ready Jetour T2, combines agility and versatility with off-road performance and sophisticated comfort. Starting with the 125 kW 270 Nm 2-wheel drive 1.5TD Aspire, two 4-wheel drive options include the GTI grade180 kW 375 Nm turbo petrol 2.0 Xplora and Odyssey. Generous sized at 4.7 x 2 x 1.9 metres, the Jetour T2 comes with a 70 litre  fuel tank.

Available in onyx black, glacier white, aqua green, and lunar silver with similar safety and tech to the T1, the T2 adds the likes of illuminated door sills and a space-saver spare wheel. Starting at R569K and topped by the flagship R679K T2 Odyssey, that’s a hell of a lot of car for the money.

Jetour also confirmed its sponsorship of the WP DHL Stormers rugby side that remains unbeaten this season at the event. And announced that it will provide 70 T-series for the upcoming G20 Summit in Johannesburg. The event featured music by GoodLuck, Mo-T DJ Vin Deyzel, sensational fireworks. And much more as it entertained the media and the literal who’s who too.

Jetour arrived in South Africa in September 2024 with the Dashing and 7-seater X70 Plus. They have taken the brand to a remarkable 12th place in national passenger car sales rankings. With over 800 sales a month within a year. Jetour puts that down to its premium offerings at cutthroat prices supported by a strong dealer network. And readily accessible parts, widespread industry recognition and strong dealer satisfaction.

Auto looks forward to testing both the T1 and T2 soon. Watch this space! – Michele  Lupini
