AUDI UNDRESSING NEXT RS3

SCOOP – Nürburgring RS3 mules start shedding disguise

Audi has started undressing the forthcoming RS3. Hot on the heels of the latest S3’s reveal, prototype camouflaged mules of the full cream RS version have been pounding the Nürburgring in testing. Now that disguise is starting to peel off to reveal a better idea of how the new one will look.

WILL RS3 MAtch A45 S?

That’s allowed our intrepid Ringside snappers to click away at the green sedan and black Sportback versions. But will the expected 295kW be enough for the 2.5-litre turbo five-pot enable the Audi 3-range power flagship to take on Mercedes-AMG’s A45 S? Pundits predict a sub-4-second 0-100 for the growling Audi.

The thinner camo on these latest prototypes reveals likely more aggro styling and a broader latest-gen Audi grin similar to that on the all-new RS4 Avant. The mules were running on even bigger wheels than the basic S, clearly to contain larger vented brake discs. It’s all rounded off by the default pair of big-bore RS twin tailpipes.

How that all shapes up against the fastest Audis of all, remains to be seen. Click here to read where the current RS3 fits into that all-important top ten pecking order.
