ALFA ROMEO GTA coming soon with 400kW biturbo V6

Alfa Romeo will soon launch its new powerhouse Giulia GTA and GTAm twins. The legendary Italian carmaker’s Formula 1 drivers tested the new cars at Balocco on Wednesday. Kimi Räikkönen and Tonio Giovinazzi spent the day working on specific aerodynamic solutions with Alfa Romeo and Sauber engineers.

NEW GTA SALUTES A REAL LEGEND

The new car is technically and conceptually inspired by the legendary 1965 Giulia GTA, or Gran Turismo Alleggerita (lightweight). Developed by the old Alfa motorsport department Autodelta, the original Giulia Sprint GT-based car was indomitable on the racetrack. It also helped breed world champions like Jochen Rindt behind the wheel.

The new Giulia Quadrifoglio-derived Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA will also be a limited edition car. It will be powered by a 400kW version of Alfa’s 2.9-litre Biturbo V6. And just like it was in the ‘60s, there will be a more extreme GTAm version (m for modificata). It will further benefit a 100 kg weight reduction for an even more impressive 2 kg per kilowatt power-to-weight ratio.
